Module 4 Chapter 9 - Stitched Edges

These Samples of stitched paper edges were backed with a regular white paper; this really made a difference when stitching into them - the backing gave the hand-made paper more stability.

Sample 1, Machine stitching with a decorative stitch.
Sample 2, Metallic threads form a tasseled edge.
Sample 3, Loops of metallic threads are threaded under a machine blanket stitch.
Sample 4, A metallic thread is hand-stitched in a random 'X' pattern, at the paper's edge and where the two different papers meet.
Sample 5, Hemp cord is hand-stitched, in blanket stitch. The hemp is stiff and this gave a curve to the stitches.
